1. Scope and Summary

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Bro-Tap mobile app and related services (the "Service"). We do not sell personal information or use it for behavioral advertising. We collect only what we need to provide the Service and optional features you enable.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and Profile Information

  • Identifiers: name, email address, and user ID.
  • Optional profile details: phone number and birthday.
  • Public profile fields: display name and email shown to authenticated users for discovery.

2.2 Social and Relationship Data

  • Friend requests, friendships, taps, and interaction metadata.
  • Nicknames and invitation records for non-registered contacts you choose to invite (phone or email).

2.3 Contacts

  • If you choose "Find friends from contacts", we process contact names, emails, and phone numbers to match registered users.
  • We do not store your full address book. We store invite records you create.

2.4 Health and Wellness Data (optional)

  • Workout activity timestamps and sync status from Apple Health or Health Connect if you enable workout-related reminders.

2.5 Voice and AI Features (optional)

  • Microphone access for speech-to-text.
  • Transcriptions, the question asked, and your language-style profile are sent to our servers and our AI provider to extract interests and update your language style.
  • We store the resulting interests and language-style summary in your profile.

2.6 Notifications and Device Data

  • Push notification tokens and notification interaction events.
  • Device and technical data such as device model, OS version, app version, language, time zone, IP address, and logs. IP address may indicate approximate location.

2.7 Usage and Diagnostics

  • Screens and features used, timestamps, and performance or crash diagnostics.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide and operate the Service (accounts, friend connections, taps, reminders).
  • Personalize your experience (interests, language style, optional triggers).
  • Send notifications and reminders you opt into.
  • Protect the Service and users (security, abuse prevention, fraud prevention).
  • Improve reliability and quality.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal Bases (EEA/UK/Switzerland)

We process personal information based on one or more of the following: performance of a contract, consent (for optional features such as health data and voice or AI), legitimate interests (security and service improvement), and legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time by disabling the relevant feature or revoking permissions.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share information:

  • With service providers that operate the Service (Firebase Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Messaging, Remote Config, hosting, analytics or diagnostics, and support tooling).
  • With AI providers when you use voice or AI features (transcriptions and prompts).
  • With third-party platforms you use for sign-in (Apple, Google).
  • With other users: your public profile fields for discovery, and your full profile with accepted friends.
  • For legal reasons (law enforcement, compliance, safety). Sports schedule data is sourced from third-party providers such as TheSportsDB; no personal data is shared for that purpose.

6. International Transfers

We may process data in countries other than your own. When required, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms such as standard contractual clauses.

7. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify personal information within a reasonable period, subject to legal requirements and limited backup retention.

8. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access, correction, deletion: you can update your profile in the app and request deletion.
  • Consent controls: disable AI triggers, health syncing, or voice input at any time.
  • Notifications: manage in-app and device notification settings.
  • Contacts: you can stop contact matching by denying permissions.
  • EEA/UK/Swiss rights: access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent.
  • California rights (CCPA/CPRA): right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may limit use of sensitive personal information (such as health data) by disabling those features.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no method of storage or transmission is 100 percent secure.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If we learn we collected personal information from a child below the applicable age, we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post an updated version with a new "Last updated" date.
